Coenzyme Q-10 is an antioxidant with a great variety of benefits. Co-Q10 has been reported to support the cardiovascular system, cognitive function and nervous system health. Additionally, it plays a role in helping the body convert food to energy. Coenzyme Q-10 also promotes the recycling of Vitamin E in the body, and can be absorbed into the outer layers of the skin to provide its beneficial properties. Although Co-Q10 is naturally found in every cell in the human body, scientific studies suggest that Co-Q10 levels decline with age. Those taking Statin medication for their cholesterol should be especially aware of how much Co- Q10 they are getting from their diets, since Statins can reduce Co-Q10 levels in the body.
